62 hours' diary - Poznań, Poland
I went to Poznań, Poland. Stayed there for 62 hours. 23:30, 19th Nov to 13:30, 22nd.
My purpose was, as always, to visit cinemas for my Japanese-music film-festivals. Had a talk with 4 cinemas in just about 2 days. I guess I can say I did a good job, hmhm.
Random memo
Economicky mouse
(nevermind)
-Indie cinemas' rent fees are about 3 quarters of those in Germany. Maybe I better price my event tickets cheaper in Poland.
-The students in Poznań make approx. 8zl (2€) average per hour at MacDonald... True?
Proper job in whole Poland - 2,000 to 4,500zl (500€ to 1,125€) average 3,300zl (825€) a month.
Minimum pay in Poland is less than 8zl (2€), France 9.53€, Germany 8.5€ (from Jan 2015 on).
-Prices for food were basically half to 3 quarters that of Germany. Except that Sushi's prices seemed average of that of Germany, or maybe even more expensive than in Germany. (For tuna, 20zl = 5€ in Poland, 4 - 5€ in Germany.)
↓One of Poland's traditional dishes. A crepe with meat and/or veggies in it + salad on a side. Yummy. 12,95zl = 3.2€ only.
-Cigarettes were 12zl (=3€). Don't know in Germany.. I never smoke. 4 - 5€ if I remember correctly?
-One day transportation (buses, train) ticket was 13,6zl (=3.4€). Half of Germany.
-A movie (Intersteller) cost me 12zl = 3€ only. A friend of mine told me that normally it's around 24zl = 6€.
-Cinemas in Poland seem to never have any kinds of alcohol. The staff at a cinema said, "I don't know why but it's just like this in Poland. Sounds like a good idea to sell alcohol, though."
-Alicia Keys' concert in Poland last year was 200zl = 50€. Miyavi's 5 years ago was 120zl = 30€.
-Most students seem to party hard quite often. They pay 40zl = 10€ for a 700ml bottle of wodka, they say. Polish sense of consuming money confuses me... (Beers were from 2zl = 0.5€.)
-In centrum are lots of banks. Kinda too many, I thought. It was like all the European banks I have seen in Europe were there. (I have only been to France, UK, Germany and a bit of the Netherlands, though) - BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, Polish banks etc etc, one after another unnecessarily. Maybe necessarily. Dunno what this indicates.
People
-I was pretty much the only Asian wherever I went. Was often looked at by people. - This never happened in London, Paris, NRW (Germany) or Berlin.
-All the people I met were really friendly, warm, giving, open-minded, or carefree (and loud. lol). I talked to and got talked to by some people on the streets several times, they never ignored me when I was in trouble.
A young lady even went out of her way on her way back home, walked me all the way down to the lowest floor of a huge department using her 20min just for me.
2 guys with a dog kindly advised me I call for a taxi and how to, instead of waiting for buses.
The 4 girls from Couchsurfing who kindly hosted me were all really nice too (super jolly and loud when they are together and not asleep, lol). Out of the 2 rooms, they offered me 1 room and they seemed genuinely excited about having a guest. One of the keys to the flat they gave me was the wrong one and it didn't fit the hole when I got home late and there was no one in the house. They apologized a lot but I seriously think this kind of things are part of the fun on a travel.
Only, there was this one guy, early 20's, midnight at a bus stop, who kept asking me something (his bus home?) entirely in Polish super hostilely. Maybe he was drunk or even doped. The last line of my starting attacking under the name of self-defence was always being violently touched. He finally didn't violently touch me so I didn't do anything much back but he certainly lowered my criterion. But after all getting in any kinds of trouble is always an interesting part of a travel as long as I don't physically deeply get hurt.
-All the people I met love their family a lot.
-A couple of my friends told me that there's loads of assholes in Warsaw who get spiteful towards other people's happiness. Now that I've seen how Poznań is I honestly doubt that but I'll see about that myself.
etc etc.
-Almost all the buildings, their architecture design were so amazing. No wonder there's many students in Europe who study architecture. - Why no many tourists in this city?
-Someone please tell me what this is. ↓ Its pinky neon sign says 24h. So.. "that"? It's right in front of a church though.
-'Intersteller' was seriously amazing. My love toward Christopher Nolan has returned.
