Infrared Photography
When I started pursuing photography as a hobby years ago, I was fascinated by certain photographs taken by a friend of mine. Apart from the coloured photographs we usually take, he is also passionate about infrared photography and introduced me into this world.
Frankly, till this day, I am still unsure about how infrared photography works in details. All I know is the images are captured under infrared light which is invisible to the human eye. After all, the joy of photography is about having fun composing a frame that we like, isn't it? What interests me most is the result which can be obtained by either using lens filters specific for this purpose, or modifying the camera itself by removing the filter in front of the sensor and replacing it with an infrared glass. I’ve tried both methods and prefer the latter as it is more convenient without the need of using a tripod, especially under the hot sun.
To some people, the photographs may seem a little dull or gloomy, but to each its own. I like the enchanting feel the photos give, showing the scenery in a different light. Of course I love taking photographs in colour as well!
Here it is, the first infrared photograph I would like to share on my blog. This was taken somewhere near Marina Barrage, opposite of Gardens By The Bay.
Have a wonderful weekend ahead, everyone!
