Kyoto Gozan Okuribi

I will introduce seasonal events in Kyoto.It's called Gozan no Okuribi.
okuribi is bonfire.

During the Bon Festival, the dead return to meet their families.
We welcome the dead.

The dead will return to the spiritual world on August 16th, and we will light the fire and see them off.

on the five mountains of Kyoto.

大　daimonji means large
妙　myou means strange
法　hou means law
鳥居　torii means torii gate
舟　funagata means boat shape

but
