#117: A Wonderful Encounter with an American Couple

A couple from USA, joined my tour. We met at their hotel, the Prince Gallery Kioicho, at 9:00 a.m. They were friendly from start to finish. It was a little rainy, but our first stop was Tsukiji Jogai. They enjoyed eating different foods like tuna, strawberry daifuku, grilled tuna, and fried chicken. After that, we visited Tsukiji Honganji, a Buddhist temple. There was a special event for “Toyama” worship and a flea market going on. Toyama prefecture is famous for delicious food and mountaineous area in Northern area Japan. Next, we went to Asakusa Sensoji Temple. They lit candles and prayed there. I also shared with them that I was born and raised in Asakusa. We also stopped at Nakazawa, a shop near Tawaramachi Station that sells handmade origami cards. The shopkeeper is very kind in explaining the craft to us. For lunch, we went to Shibuya Crossing and ate at a ramen shop called Oreshio at 1:00 p.m. They had Shio ramen, Tonkotsu noodles, and Gyoza, which they loved.

After lunch, we visited Meiji Jingu Shrine. Then we took the JR Yamanote line to Shinjuku Gyoen. We got to Shinjuku Gyoen's Shinjuku Gate. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful traditional garden, "Chisen Kaiyu Garden," and the "Goryoutei," finishing at Sendagaya Gate.
