Ollie Diary day8

May the 22th

To alternate again, today was a calmer day at home. I woke up early to begin a big, intense cleaning of the kitchen of the shared house, which needed it just as much as the living room.

I forgot to mention in the meantime the arrival of Toto, a German guy who now lives in Beppu with his wife and who has joined us here for a while, with his bicycle and his very German ways. We ended up chatting over a loaf of bread baked by himself, and after two weeks without eating a single bite of baguette, it was an nice moment of Franco-German communion on the Japanese land and soil.

I cooked quiches at the youth center to introduce my hosts to a bit of French cuisine, and even though the taste was slightly different because the ingredients are not quite the same, and even though the tarts took forever to cook, I'm still glad I was able to cook for them.
When I arrived, two nice young students were working in a studious but relaxed atmosphere, listening to music. They were in charge of a food stall (with a little bell, bookkeeping, cash register...) , and I was able to buy some snacks from them! The atmosphere of this youth center is truly incredible.

Ryota-san gave me an old kimono that was lying around on the floor, which I cut up completely to save the fabric, and tomorrow I'll try to make some cases to protect the chopsticks I made a few days before.
