「木遣り唄」が法要の開幕を告げる。　 京・春の散策シリーズ －本願寺Ⅲ－

京都 東本願寺境内に「木遣(きや)り唄」が響いた。
明治時代、東本願寺は火災で御影堂、阿弥陀堂の両堂が焼失した。その再建に全国から献木があった。 当時、巨木を山から運び出すときに巨大な橇(かんじき/そり)が使われた。大勢で運ぶ際に威勢を揚げるため、音頭取りが丸太に跨り「木遣り」を歌った。

"Kiyari Uta" resounded in the precincts of Higashi Honganji Temple in Kyoto.
During the Meiji era, the both of Mikage-do and Amida-do of Higashi Hongan-ji Temple was destroyed by fire. The donations for the reconstruction gathered from all over the country. At that time, giant sledges were used to carry huge trees out of the mountains. In order to raise the people's power up when they carry with large numbers, the ondotori straddled the log and sang "Kiyari".

本願寺の宗祖親鸞聖人の750回の御遠忌(ごえんき)特別記念事業として、東本願寺では約12年の歳月をかけ、御影堂・阿弥陀堂・御影堂門の修復が行われ、4年前に完成。

As a special commemorative project for the 750 times of Goenki of the Shinto Saint Shinran of Hongwanji, the restoration for  Mikage-do, Amida-do and Mikage-domon of the the Higashi Honganji was performed and its done 4 years ago. It took for about 12 years.

その際に、完了報告法要のオープニングで、石川県の「加賀献木木遣り保存会」の方々による巨大丸太を橇で運ぶシーンが再現され、多くの信者の前で披ろうされた。 江戸時代から行われている風習「木遣り」が、今の時代に見ることができるのは非常に珍しい。

In the opening of the Completion ceremony, the scene of a giant log sledged was reproduced by people from the “Kaga Donation Woodworking Preservation Society” in Ishikawa Prefectur and was shown in front of many followers. It is very unusual to see the custom "kiyari" in this era that has been practiced since the Edo era.

保存会の方が丸太に跨り木遣りを歌い、引き手の気炎を揚げていた。荘厳な法要の開幕に相応しい伝承行事である。 

The preservation party straddled the log, sang Kiyari and they were raising the spirit of the puller. It is a traditional event which is worth for the opening of the solemn memorial service.
