In modern days, there is a promising and huge market for cosmetic goods which can satisfy the desire of people who want white skin. In my opinion, this environment is caused by some factors and can lead to harmful implications.

One cause that consumers are keen to have white skin is advertisements. When we turn the TV on or look at social networking services, a lot of cosmetic brands market how white skin is desirable and beautiful. Because people in modern society have considerable amount of screen time, they are affected by such commercials easily. As a result, especially young generations who are addicted to SNS come to be eager having white skin. Another is an influence of a traditional value seen in some countires. By this I mean, some individuals believe that white skin is a symbol of richness and wealth because some of the ordinary people have to work outside, getting tan skin due to sunshine. This is also a factor of the people’s demands on white skin.

However, the excess use of cosmetics for white skin can bring about adverse side effects. For example, usually cosmetic products include synthetic additives which might be damaging to their skin. Moreover, in countries having strong sunlight, perhaps white skin may provoke skin cancer because it is tender to sunbeams. Not only, but society can suffer from an undesirable outcome from too much pursuing white skin in terms of race. it is due to the reason that there is a bias that black people are inferior race. If people come to believe that white skin is only perfect skin, racism to black people could escalate more.

In conclusion, I suppose that the desire derives from companies’ ads and this can induce serious effects on citizens’ health and society.
