9.obese children
In western countries, the proportion of obese children has risen by approximately 20% in the last decade. From my point of view, this is induced by some factors and could result in adverse consequences.
One cause for this phenomenon is an increase of screen time. In modern society, due to the development of information technology, people come to spend much of their free time looking at the screens of the TVs or their smartphones. In such an environment, like adults children also tend to be caught up in these addictive activities. This obviously steals exercise opportunities from youth. Another is a dramatic change of diet. Nowadays, individuals can purchase high-calorie snacks and beverages everywhere as well as these are more affordable than healthy food. For example, there are a lot of restaurants which serve fatty fast food in extremely low prices. These play a crucial role in the increase of children’s weight.
Given this detrimental situation, some serious outcomes could occur in society. First of all, seeing that obesity can bring about illness easily, the cost of medical treatment for them would go up. Furthermore, if children do not even go out due to their overweight, their bodies in the growing stage cannot develop properly. Finally, it is needless to say that their quality of life will deteriorate on account of these factors.
In conclusion, I believe that the increase in unhealthy children stems from the reasons mentioned above and this trend leads to damaging results in the western world.
