4. Competition or cooperation
Several individuals think that children should develop a competitive spirit whereas other citizens believe that adults teach them to help each other. In my opinion, both qualities are indispensable for school-age people to rise properly.
First of all, it is undoubted that every single society around the world is formed and operated by helping each other. Given this, cooperative attitude should be fostered in young generations during their childhood to become good members of society in the future. As far as they can develop such a habit, society will be more desirable shape for those in hardships. By way of example, in modern society, a lot of people need help due to war, poverty, and lack of medical treatment. The only way to solve these problems is to bring people’s collaboration together. Moreover, activities to raise cooperative mindset play a favorable role in youngsters’ development. For instance, when students are given assignment which needs working together, they would be more socialised than if they deal with it alone, enabling them build a good repport with others. This is clearly useful to promote their communication skills.
On the other hand, having sense of competition is not necessarily harmful because healthy races can contribute to nurture their self-esteem and hidden talents. Through making efforts to beat others, children would find their own uniqueness or abilities, which add to their self-confidence. for instance, when they win a sports competition, they should acquire great satisfaction but also well-trained skills.
In conclusion, because of the reasons mentioned above, I suppose that the best way for children growing up is to teach them both positive sides of competition and cooperation.
