本日はIELTSライティング①円グラフ問題について、IELTS講師にライティングを添削していただきました。

The charts represent water consumption in three countries in 1980.

グラフは1980年の3カ国の水消費量を表している。

イントロダクション
The provided three pie charts illustrate the percentage breakdowns of water consumption  in three different countries, namely Britain, USA and Australia in 1980.

ここに示した3つの円グラフは、1980年におけるイギリス、アメリカ、オーストラリアの3カ国の水消費量の割合を示している。

概要
Overall, it is obvious that there are no significant differences in the consumption of water in three countries. It is particularly noticeable that industrial usage makes up large proportion except for Australia.

全体として、3カ国の水の消費量に大きな違いはないことがわかる。特にオーストラリアを除けば、工業用水の割合が大きいことがわかる。

詳細
In regard to Britain and USA, their breakdowns of water consumption are almost similar to each other. Their industrial use takes the largest share among the other sectors which constitutes 48% and 47% each, followed by the usage for agriculture at 37% and 41% respectively. The smallest usage of water is for household which makes up 15% and 12% of each total water consumption.

イギリスとアメリカの水消費量の内訳はほぼ同じである。工業用水が48％、農業用水が47％と最も多く、次いで農業用水が37％、農業用水が41％となっている。最も少ないのは家庭用で、それぞれ15％と12％である。

Comparing them to the usage of water in Australia, their difference can be seen in industrial and agricultural sectors.
Australia’s agricultural use takes the largest share of total consumption which constitute 53%, 15% higher than industrial use.
However, its household usage still takes the least at 9% and it is the smallest of the three countries.

オーストラリアの水使用量と比較すると、工業用水と農業用水で違いが見られる。
オーストラリアでは農業用水が総消費量の53％を占め、工業用水を15％上回っている。
しかし、家庭での使用量は9％と3カ国の中で最も少ない。
