What are African colors
In the last article, I wrote about the history and concept of the Andu Amet.
One of their characteristics is a collaboration of Japanese traditional patterns and African colors. Today, I will explain the African colors that they use.
How traditional colors are determined depends on what dyes and pigments are available locally. For example, in Asia, many plants that can be dyed grow naturally. So we can get many colors from plants, soil, and creatures. It is said that there are more than 300 traditional Japanese colors.
On the other hand, in Africa, which is dry and has few types of plants, so they used soil, insects, and limited plants that can be cultivated in dry areas as dyes. Their main palette is black, brown, red, yellow made from soil and various blues made from indigo. These are the colors Andu Amet use.
