料理屋植むら / Japanese Restaurant
2015年、神戸にあるミシュラン二つ星の料理屋植むらさんとともに、在英国日本国大使館にて「Cut-Glass Accents」と題したインスタレーションを行いました。「対話をしながら生み出す器」をテーマに、「涼しげな器」「彩りの器」「育む器」という3つの作品を展示。その中でも「育む器」は、一年ごとに加工を加え3年かけて完成するという試みにチャレンジした器です。常連客に新しい喜び、驚きを提供したい、料理人と江戸切子職人二人の思いが込められた作品です。
Uemura / Japanese Restaurant
The relationship with Mr. Uemura, a two Michelin starred chef, goes a long way back. The most recent collaboration with him was the exhibition at the Japanese embassy in London 2015 the theme of ‘Creating beauty in collaboration’. At the exhibition, Toru exhibited many works including three special types of glass ware, Chill, Colour and Grow. The idea of ‘Grow’ was that this glass table ware evolves in time. The specially designed glass table ware to serve Japanese winter crab went back to Toru’s studio after every winter. Over 3 years it was evolved to reach its final design. As a result, the regular customers to Uemura’s restaurant always got a pleasant surprise which has always been Uemura’s biggest motivation, as well as Toru’s.
