HLAB サマースクール Daily Report ~TOKYO2021~

HLAB サマースクール 2021が終わり早くも半年が経ちました。
8月13日から8月20日にかけて行われたHLABサマースクール 2021には、約230名の高校生が参加してくれました。オンラインやハイブリッドなど様々な形態で開催されたサマースクール。
それぞれの地域の一日の様子をnoteにて地域ごとにまとめてみました。

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.1】

　サマースクール1日目。期待、不安、緊張などさまざまな思いを抱えてやってきた高校生たち。私たち運営委員も同じような気持ちを持ちながらも高校生にやっと会えた喜びをかみしめながら笑顔で迎えました。アイスブレイクでは「砂漠で生き残るために持っていくもの」を題材として、メンバー全員が納得するよう意見を1つにする「コンセンサスゲーム」を実施しました。相手の意見を聞き、自分の意見と照らし合わせていくときの高校生の真剣な表情が印象的でした。1日目の締めくくりとして、高校生が感じたことを話し合いました。「サマースクールに来て良かった」、「自分の話を真剣に聞いてもらえてうれしい」という声や「最初は不安だったけれど話していくうちに打ち解けた」という声があがりました。多様な人が集まるスクランブル交差点のようなサマースクール、HLAB TOKYO 2021。どんなことを感じ、考えることになるのか楽しみになりました。
 The first day of summer school. During the ice-breaker session, we played a consensus game where the participants aimed to figure out an answer based on "One thing that you would take to the desert for survival". The students' serious expressions were impressive as they listened to the other students' opinions and compared them with their own. "
At the end of the first day, the high school students shared their thoughts after spending their first day. Some were glad that they applied for HLAB, some felt comfortable sharing their personal stories, others shared their goal for the next few days during HLAB.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.2】

　サマースクール2日目。『「世界」を知る』をテーマに、高校生は社会人やメンターの人生と考えに触れました。「フォーラム」では、ジェンダー論を研究されている東京大学の瀬地山角教授をお迎えし、ご講演いただきました。高校生が自身の疑問を先生にぶつけたり、反対に質問者の考えを先生が問い返したりして、熱い議論となりました。「メンターフリーインタラクション」では、国際関係学や経済学、医学などメンターたちが専門にしている分野について、「社会人フリーインタラクション」では、ゲストの社会人の方々の現在のお仕事について話を聞きました。メンターフリーインタラクションでは「すでに学びたい分野を決めていたけれど、他の分野についても興味がわいた」という声や社会人フリーインタラクションで「政治家の仕事について知らなかったため、いい機会になった」という声があがりました。
 The second day of summer school. On the second day of the summer school, we welcomed Professor Kaku Sechiyama of the University of Tokyo, who is a researcher of gender theory, to give a lecture in our Forum session. In the "Mentor Free Interaction" session, the mentors talked about their specialties such as international relations, economics, and medicine. In the "Professionals Free Interaction" session, the guests talked about their current professional jobs. The high school participants said, "I had already decided what field I wanted to study, but now I'm interested in other fields as well", "I didn't know about the job of politicians, so this was a good opportunity for me.”

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.3】

　サマースクール3日目。2つのワークショップで、高校生は自分について振り返りました。「下北ワークショップ」では、本サマースクールの開催地である下北沢をテーマに、再開発された場所を散策しました。散策場所の1つである「BONUS TRACK」では、その特徴的な建物やポスターを通して、下北沢の再開発コンセプトが街にどのように反映されているか、高校生は作り手の視点に立って考えました。再開発された下北沢を見て、形として「変える」ことを学び、自分を変えることと照らし合わせました。「自己分析ワークショップ」では、高校生各自がワークシートを用いてどのような価値観を大切にしているか考え、分析をしました。このワークショップを主催したHLAB理事の横山匡氏の力強い言葉を聞き、ワークショップを通して自分自身に対して理解を深めたことで、高校生の表情が以前よりもたくましいものになっていたところが印象的でした。
 The third day of summer school. On the third day of the summer school, we held a "Shimokitazawa Workshop" where mentors and participants walked around the redeveloped area of Shimokitazawa, the host city of the summer school. After visiting the redeveloped Shimokitazawa, we learned how to "change" it as a form and compared it to changing ourselves. In the "self-analysis workshop", each high school student used a worksheet to analyze what life values are important to them. After listening to the powerful words of Mr. Tadashi Yokoyama, the director of HLAB who organized the workshop, and deepening their understanding of themselves through the workshop, I was impressed by how the high school students' expressions became more resilient than before.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.4】

サマースクール4日目。「セミナー」では英語で積極的に発言や質問をしている高校生が多く見られました。「未来想像ワークショップ」では、なりたい理想の自分を言葉や絵で表現しました。残りのサマースクール期間で、理想の自分に近づくための小さな行動をするところまで考えました。「過去の自分と現在の自分には、今までも目を向けてきたことがあったけれど、未来の自分について考えたのはこれが初めてだった」と新たな体験をした高校生も。「ハウス・アイデンティティワークショップ」では、サマースクール中に行動をともにしたグループである「ハウス」ごとに、自分たちのアイデンティティを模索しました。最終的にハウスで1つのショーを作り上げ全員の前で発表しました。ハウスごとに個性的な発表となり、さまざまな色が見られました。この4日目で、ハウスの絆が一層深まったと思います。今後も暖かく強い繋がりを保っていくことでしょう。

The fourth day of summer school. Many high school students were actively speaking and asking questions in English during the Seminar session. In the "Future Creation Workshop," students expressed their ideal selves in words and pictures. Some high school students had a new experience, saying, "I have always looked at my past and present selves, but this is the first time I have thought about my future self. In the "House Identity Workshop," each "House", the group of students who worked together during the summer school, searched for their own identity. In the end, the Houses created one show and presented it in front of everyone. We believe that the bond between the Houses was further strengthened on this fourth day. We will continue to maintain a warm and strong connection in the future.

【HLAB Summer School Daily Report Vol.5】

サマースクール最終日。「Memories ワークショップ」では、参加者それぞれがサマースクールで感じたことを発表しました。閉会式では、期間中に体験したこと・学んだことを活かし、どう行動するか、高校生たちがステージに立って宣言しました。彼らはたくましく自信に満ちあふれた表情をしていました。私たちの別れの言葉は、「さようなら」や「またね」ではなく「いってらっしゃい」。そんな気持ちを込めて色とりどりの紙飛行機を飛ばしました。そしていよいよ別れのとき。メンターから手紙を受け取り、想いと涙があふれ出す姿も。サマースクールは、あっという間だけれど1日目がもう遠い昔のような、そんな濃い5日間でした。高校生はサマースクールという「非日常」から「日常」へと戻っていきますが、「ただいま」と帰ってくるその日までメンターは戻ってくる場所をつくり、守り続けます。それではみんな、「いってらっしゃい。」

The last day of summer school. In the Memories Workshop, each participant presented what they felt during the summer school. At the closing ceremony, the high school students stood on the stage and declared how they would act in the near future based on what they had experienced and learned during the summer school. Our parting words were not "Good-bye" or "See you later" but "Itterasshai". With that in mind, we flew colorful paper airplanes. Some students received letters from their mentors and burst into tears. The mentors will continue to create and save a place for the students to come back to until the day they come back to say "I'm home.” So, everyone, Have a nice trip!
