エネルギーの議論に足りないもの

2024年6月3日DMG eventsが主催する「Japan Energy Summit」のオープニングパーティーでのスピーチを下記に記します。エネルギーの議論に何が足りないかを話したものです。

Welcome to Tokyo.
I welcome you as a representative of the energy business in Tokyo.

Please take a look. 90% of the members here are men.Many of them are from the government, major companies, and research institutions. This is the reality of the energy problem.

If you are a member of an organization and act with an awareness of the environment , please put your hands on your heart and think about whether you are also acting in the same way as an individual.

The carbon neutral goal of 2050 cannot be achieved unless all countries and regions, all companies and individuals cooperate.

Why don't women, venture companies, and students gather here? This is because there is not enough ingenuity to reach the five senses. People don't move based on logic.

Especially since energy cannot be seen, isn't it "energy discussion of the energy people ,by the energy people, for the energy people"?

My company manufactures hydrogen cooking stoves. This is a tool for realizing "hydrogen cooking", which is cooking by burning hydrogen.

Even when hydrogen is burned, carbon dioxide is not emitted. There is no smell. Combustion temperature is high. The humidity in the combustion area is high. It takes advantage of the aroma of the ingredients themselves, resulting in a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The same food becomes tastier when cooked with hydrogen gas than when cooked with regular gas.
Hydrogen gas is good for the environment and makes delicious food.

We also have a business where we bring fuel cells to concerts to power musical instruments. It makes the concert sound better. It was also used for U2'sperformance in Japan, and has also been used by major Japanese artists LUNASEA and TheLastRockStars. This is what it means to convey information to the five senses in an easy-to-understand manner.

Unless we reconsider our energy communication methods, we will not be able to involve many citizens. This is especially true if you want to involve them as individuals rather than as an organization.

I hope that this Japan Energy Summit will not only be a discussion of technology and policy, but also a discussion of communication, and an opportunity to think about how to convey information to the five senses.
