【Netflixで英語を学ぶ】Atypical（邦題：ユニークライフ）Season 4-1
① You're not allowed to make fun of me for crying. (泣いてもからかわないで）
【context】
一人暮らしを始めるサム。両親は心配するが、その心配を裏腹にサムは「You can go.（もう帰っていいよ）」と冷たく答える。
allow 人 to do〜で「人が〜するのを許可する」という日本語訳にすると堅めの訳になりがちだが、「〜しないでね、〜してはだめだよ」という軽いニュアンスで使われている例。allowは結構映画、ドラマで聞く印象。
②You want us to stick around a little and help you set up? （片付けを手伝おうか？）
stick aroud〜：同じ場所にとどまる、ぶらぶらする、少し待つ
"You want us to..."の部分は、「ユーワナストゥ」のような発音になる。
③You're here just in the nick of time.
(ギリギリ間に合った）
in the nick of time：ギリギリ間に合って
④I'll take a few off your hands.
（俺も手伝うよ）
take 〜 off your hands：仕事やタスクを引き受ける
例：I can take it off your hands. / I'll take that off your hands.
⑤There's no way he'll be able to live without you. （ママなしじゃ生きていけない）
there's no way〜：〜なわけがない
例：There's no way that he lies. （彼が嘘をつくはずがない）
There's no way that he'll pass the exam without any prepareation. （彼が何も準備せずに試験に合格するはずがない）
⑥I'm not getting in the middle. （深くは関わらないよ）
Let's not get in the middle of it. （深く関わらないようにしよう）
Netflixの和訳では「俺を巻き込むな」になっているが、「自分は深くは関わらないよ」の間違いの気がする。。
⑦I've really mulled it over. （本当によく考えた。熟考した。）
mull：よく考える、熟考する
例：She began to mull over the various possibilities.
I can't decide which university to choose- I'm going to spend the weekend mulling over my options.
mullは以前どこがで出会った単語で、そのときは初めて聞いた単語だったから日常生活で使われるのかな〜？と思ってたけど、出できた！
⑧You might want to let them know. (彼らに知らせてみれば？）
might want to...：～した方がいい、～するといいでしょう、～してはいかがかと思います◆相手の自主性を尊重して提案や依頼をするときに用いられる表現。
Netflixの和訳は「悩んでいる人に知らせて」と出ているが、これも間違い。
⑨It's time to have a talk and clear the air.（話し合いをして誤解を解くといい）
clear the air：わだかまりを解く
例：We should meet up to clear the air.
Tim and Mark need to clear the air before their argument gets worse.

⑩I haven't got around to it yet.（まだできていない）
get around to 〜：〜するための時間をみつける、やっと〜ができる
例：We must get around to cleaning those windows.
⑪You just have to have a thick skin.（打たれ強くならないと）
thick ski：図太い神経、打たれ強さ
例：John is very thick-skinned. Even when people criticize him a lot, he doesn't seem to feel anything.
If you want to perform publicly, you have to grow a thick skin.

⑫Things got a whole lot better. （物事はずっと良くなった）
a whole lot better はなんだかすごくネイティブな言い回しな気がしたのでチェック。I got a whole lot better. （随分と気分はよくなった）のように自分の調子にも使えそう。
⑬She speaks very highly of them. （すごく褒めていた）
speak highly of〜：〜を非常に褒める、〜を称賛する
⑭You wake me up at the crack of dawn.（早朝に起こす。）
at the crack of dawn：早朝に、夜明けとともに
例：We would get up at the crack of dawn to go fishing.（釣りにいくためによく早朝に起きたものだ）
dawnの発音は、”daan”。
一話だけでもたくさん学ぶことがありました。
