For Tomorrow 4
Toward a Profitable Agriculture
To increase the food self-sufficiency rate, we must boost the production of Japanese agricultural products, starting with rice. We will shift from agricultural policies that subsidize production cuts to those that increase production and enable profitable agriculture through exports during peacetime. Efforts to reduce imports by replacing imported wheat flour with domestically produced rice flour are also necessary. Innovations such as expanding the size of individual rice fields will be needed to maximize the benefits of agricultural machinery automation, drones, and satellite technology.
Amid the global boom in Japanese cuisine, we will use it as a key strategy to expand the export of vegetables and fruits, utilizing Japan's renowned freezing and refrigeration technologies. Additionally, we will support the overseas expansion of various Japanese food service businesses, not limited to just Japanese cuisine.
