Q. Is it true that you are promoting dual citizenship?

A. Many children born to Japanese and foreign parents have dual citizenship at birth. However, under current law, they must choose one nationality by the age of 22.
I have advocated for amending the Nationality Law so that in such cases, individuals can retain dual citizenship.
It is also a condition that if these individuals assume public office, such as becoming a member of parliament, they must renounce their foreign citizenship.
