What I Want to Achieve as Prime Minister Kono Taro– 2: Implement Online Voting.

In response to concerns such as 'The polling station is too far, and it's a hassle to go,' and 'The eligibility for postal voting is too limited,' I want to address the voices of those who wish for online voting because they have the will to vote, but the environment is not conducive.

Let's implement online voting using the My Number Card, which 3 out of 4 people possess.
We will start with online voting for Japanese citizens living abroad, and if no issues arise, we will expand it domestically. I understand there are concerns about being coerced into voting for someone you don't actually support.

In Estonia, a pioneer in online voting, you can vote online multiple times, and the last vote cast is the one that counts. Alternatively, if you vote at a polling station, the online vote becomes invalid, and the vote cast at the polling station is considered valid.

I also understand there may be concerns about interference from other countries. However, despite constant cyberattacks from its neighboring country Russia, Estonia has never had its online voting system compromised.

The Digital Agency has sent staff to Estonia to study its online voting system, and I would like to begin considering the implementation of online voting in Japan as well.
