UPBOND地獄からの復活、 Web3ユースケース創出からLogin3.0の誕生へ
From Struggles to Solutions: The Journey to Login3.0 (日本語Follows)
At UPBOND, our journey began with a simple yet profound belief: that the future of data ownership belongs in the hands of the users. As we delved into the world of Web3, we were driven by the dream of a digital landscape where individuals hold the keys to their own information. But dreams often collide with harsh realities.
Facing the Harsh Reality 現実の厳しさに直面して
We invested our hearts and minds into crafting over 20 Web3 use cases in Japan. Each project was a step towards realizing our vision of a decentralized future. Our collaborations with major players like MUFG and Animoca Brands were proof of our capabilities and commitment. Yet, despite our successes, there was a disconnect. Our efforts were seen as isolated achievements, not scalable solutions. Raising funds became an uphill battle. It felt like we were shouting our vision into a void, with few truly understanding the potential we saw so clearly.
A Crucial Insight 貴重な気付き
Then came a sobering revelation: while we were ready for self-custody, the world wasn't. The average user wasn't prepared to manage their own data and assets. This insight was a tough pill to swallow. But it also sparked a crucial pivot in our strategy. We shifted our focus to solving the pressing problems faced by enterprises.
Birth of Login 3.0 Login3.0の誕生
Developing Login 3.0 was no small task. We had to merge our dream of self-custodial data ownership with the practical needs of today’s enterprises. The solution had to be seamless, something users would adopt effortlessly, without even realizing they were stepping into a new paradigm. One of our primary goals was to ensure that Login 3.0 provided the exact same user experience as traditional Web2 logins. Users can log in using familiar methods like Google or social media logins, making the transition to a self-custodial system effortless and invisible. This familiarity was crucial in driving adoption and ensuring that users felt comfortable and confident using our system.
Balancing Self-Custody and Recovery: The Most Challenging Part セルフカストディとリカバリーのバランス: 最も難しい課題
One of the most challenging aspects was balancing the contradictory concepts of self-custody and recoverability. In a self-custodial system, users have full control over their data, which is a core principle of Web3. However, this also means that if a user loses their key, they could lose access to their data permanently—a significant risk for widespread adoption. To address this, we devised a unique recovery mechanism. This approach allows a third party, such as UPBOND, to assist in the recovery process without compromising the principle of self-custody. Our system ensures that users retain ownership and control over their data, while also providing a safety net to recover access if needed.
Enterprise Transformation 企業への提供価値
Login 3.0 tackled a critical issue for large conglomerates: the chaos of managing multiple customer identifiers across services. By generating identifiers from the user’s device, we provided a unified identity that streamlined operations and enhanced security. This wasn’t just a technical fix; it was a bridge to the future we envisioned, one where user ownership is paramount.
The Vision of Tomorrow 未来への展望
We steadfastly believe that data ownership will shift to individuals. Regulations like GDPR are just the beginning. We are preparing for a future where users control their own data, and Login 3.0 is our way of making that future tangible today.
A Journey of Resilience and Bond
Our journey with Login 3.0 is more than a technical achievement; it’s a testament to resilience, vision, and the deep bond we share with our mission. We've faced skepticism and numerous challenges, but we've emerged with a solution that embodies our commitment to a user-centric digital world. This journey isn’t just about technology; it’s about forging a path to a future where data ownership is a fundamental right, and we are united in that mission.
