Wedding invitation

I accidentally deleted the blog of yesterday, so I'll repost it on 17/1/2023.

I took two lessons today.

The first lesson was with teacher N.
In the Phillippines, the sinulog festival was held yesterday, but she told me that she didn't join in and spent a day as a "bed potato" isn't a couch potato. It seems more comfortable than a couch potato for me.

Regarding this topic, we talked about the Japanese festival this season.
I shared with her that "dontosai" is a kind of fire festival.
We bring the lucky charms of last year, "kadomatsu," and so on, and then they were burned.

She asked me until then if kadomatsu are decorated, I couldn't answer well, and she googled and shared with me.
According to her, we shouldn't decorate them on 29th December, because "nijuuku" means double suffering.
I learned Japanese customs from non-Japanese.

I remembered and shared with her about Japanese ominous numbers.
They are 4 and 9, and due to Japanese pronunciation, 4 is "yon" or "shi," "shi" has another meaning of death, and 9 is "kyuu" or "ku," and "ku" has also another meaning of suffering.
So, at hospitals and some hotels, they don't have room numbers 4 and 9.

Talking about 29, some meat shops or barbecue restaurants named 29th "nikunohi," because niku means meat in Japanese.

The second lesson was with teacher I.
We talked about our mutual acquaintance who used to work at her office, and I used to be his regular student, he is not a person I mentioned in my former blog, just in case.

Before he left school, he told me "I will invite you to my wedding," and he is going to get married in two months.
I guess he didn't remember what he said to me, but she asked me "If he sends you an invitation card, can you come?"
I answered it depends on the situation if my husband can take paid leaves on that day because I can't leave my son at home by himself.

In Japan, some people use paid leaves for their weddings and honeymoon.
She asked me about our wedding, since I used to work at the wedding hall, she was just wondering who our wedding planner was.
I entrusted my junior colleague whom I trained before, I'm sure she felt pressured too much, but she accomplished it.
I've heard she got promoted, she is the manager at the wedding hall now.
I'm proud of her.

With this topic, our topic expanded to other holidays, for instance, maternity leaves.
She asked me how long moms can have maternity leaves in Japan. Shamefully I didn't know in detail, but she always allows me to know about Japan, and also I learn many things about Japan from her.
I learned a new word today, it was "paternity leave."

Taking lessons with those two teachers, always our topics expand.
That's why I love talking with them, and also I love their personality so much.
