今日の英語ブログは、小泉八雲のことを書きました。
私は子供の頃、小泉八雲は「雪女」「耳なし芳一」とか
子供でも読めるカンタンな怪談を書いた人という認識でした。
ちなみに小泉八雲の怪談は日本人の奥様が、怪談が好きで
その影響で、八雲氏が作ったお話だそうです。
今年秋からNHK朝ドラで、小泉八雲夫妻の話をやるみたいですが
本当に日本の日常生活に馴染んで
日本に深い愛情を持っていた人のようですね。
今はインバウンドで、日本オタク？というほど日本を大好きな
外国人の方沢山いらっしゃいますが、
小泉八雲こそ、最初に日本をこよなく愛した人なのかもしれませんね。
