Google supported Cross-Platform Application developing on Solution challenge

GDSCは「Google Developer Student Club」の略称で、Google Developersのサポートを受けた学生向けの開発者コミュニティです。GDSCは大学単位で設置され、各大学にあったコミュニティの運営が求められています。GDSC大阪大学支部は、「身近な課題をテクノロジーで解決する」をキーワードに、部活やサークルをはじめとする学内ローカルコミュニティのDX支援を目標に活動を開始しました。
(以下、GDSCはGDSC大阪大学支部を指すものとします。)

Solution Challenge (SC) is a development competition held by Google Inc. in which (Google Development Student Clubs) GDSCs from universities around the world participate. The mission of SC is to solve one or more of the United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using Google technology.

To support the participating SC teams, Google provides many development tools, e.g., web server, database, and application development framework, for participants in implementing their solutions. From front-end to back-end and even machine learning, their tools include almost everything necessary to build Android, IOS, and web applications. Besides development tools, Google also holds a series of workshops and forums and invites skillful engineers to help participants refine their solutions and better use google technologies.

Our Solution to Alleviate Poverty

In our case, our team has three members, and all members come from the Graduate School of information science and technology, Osaka University. We developed a p2p cloud plant platform to bridge the job-eager planters and the environmentally protective donators and expected it could create jobs to alleviate poverty and prevent desertification to some extent. Since our group members all have information-related backgrounds, we quickly became proficient in the framework needed to develop our application. 

Our Challenges & Improving Direction

At the same time, due to our lack of practical development experience, understanding of market ecolog and cross-border settlement knowledge, it is difficult for us to develop transnational platforms to support inhabitants living in developing countries. This difficulty significantly limits our market and the effectiveness to alleviate the poverty and the desertification problems.  In addition, due to the lack of design experiments and skills, our team still has a lot of room for improvement in UI design.

Wanted

At last, we are looking for members who have front-end design experiences or are interested in front-end design. Besides, since our application requires cross-border settlements, we are also looking for members familiar with it.
