イギリスがTPP協定加盟へ：2023年7月15日（土）

明日16日に，環太平洋パートナーシップ協定（TPP協定）にイギリスの加盟が承認される運びとなった。これでTPP協定の加盟国数が12ヵ国となる。

　もともと，2016年2月に，TPP協定は12ヵ国（日本，オーストラリア，ブルネイ，カナダ，チリ，マレーシア，メキシコ，ニュージーランド，ペルー，シンガポール，米国，ベトナム）で署名されたが，2017年1月に米国が離脱したため，11ヵ国でTPP11協定（環太平洋パートナーシップに関する包括的及び先進的な協定：CPTPP）が2018年12月に発効していた。

　内閣官房のホームページによれば，TPP協定は「環太平洋でモノの関税だけでなく，サービス，投資の自由化を進め，さらには知的財産、金融サービス，電子商取引，国有企業の規律など，幅広い分野で２１世紀型のルールを構築する経済連携協定」である。

UK Joins the TPP Agreement：July 15th(Saturday)

It has been announced that the United Kingdom's membership in the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) agreement will be approved tomorrow, on the 16th. With this development, the number of member countries in the TPP agreement will reach 12.

Originally, the TPP agreement was signed by 12 countries (Japan, Australia, Brunei, Canada, Chile, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, the United States, and Vietnam) in February 2016. However, the United States withdrew from the agreement in January 2017, resulting in the formation of the TPP11 agreement (Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership: CPTPP) among the remaining 11 countries, which came into effect in December 2018.

According to the Cabinet Secretariat's website, the TPP agreement aims to establish a 21st-century economic partnership that goes beyond the elimination of tariffs on goods in the Asia-Pacific region. It also promotes liberalization of services and investments, as well as the creation of rules in a wide range of areas, including intellectual property, financial services, e-commerce, and the discipline of state-owned enterprises.
