イギリス人の探検家など数多くの肩書きのある人物で，二重スパイとして有名なキム・フィルビー（英ソ（MI6，KGB）の二重スパイ）の父である。1930年代にSOCAL（スタンダード・オイル・オブ・カリフォルニア）がサウジアラビアの石油採掘権を取得するのに重要な仲介役を果たしたと言われている。
　イギリスのアングロ・ペルシャ石油会社（後のBP社）ではなく，後のシェブロンとなるアメリカのSOCALがサウジアラビアの石油採掘権を取得し，その後，サウジアラビアとアメリカは石油天然ガスを通して強力な関係を構築した。
　アラムコ（アラビアン・アメリカン・オイル・カンパニー）は，今やサウジアラビアのサウジアラムコとなっている。1948年には世界最大の埋蔵量と言われるサウジアラビアのガワール油田が発見されたのは周知のことである。
　今から見ると，たった一人の人物の行動がアメリカとイギリスの運命に大きな影響を与えたことになる。

Jack Philby：April 19th(Wednesday)

Jack Philby was a man of many titles, including British explorer and the father of Kim Philby, who became famous as a double agent for the English-Soviet spy network(MI6，KGB). He is said to have played a crucial role in mediating Standard Oil of California's acquisition of oil drilling rights in Saudi Arabia during the 1930s.
It was not the Anglo-Persian Oil Company of Britain (later known as BP), but rather SOCAL, which would eventually become Chevron, that obtained oil drilling rights in Saudi Arabia. Subsequently, Saudi Arabia and the United States built a strong relationship through their oil and gas industry.
Today, Aramco (the Arabian American Oil Company) is known as Saudi Aramco. It is well known that in 1948, the Ghawar oil field in Saudi Arabia, which is now considered to have the world's largest reserves, was discovered.
Looking back now, the actions of just one individual had a significant impact on the fate of the United States and Britain.
