寝袋：2025年3月4日（火）

2月27日（木）の夜から28日（金）に掛けて，緊急を要する仕事の関係で研究室に宿泊することになった。

　昨年の2024年8月8日（木）に宮崎県日向灘（震央地名）の深さ約31キロメートルを震源とするマグニチュード7.1の地震が発生して，気象庁が初めてとなる南海トラフ地震臨時情報「巨大地震注意」を発表した。

　実は，このこともあって，その後，大学の自分の研究室でも宿泊ができるようにしておいたほうが良いのではないかと考えて，幅1ｍ80cmのロビーチェアを２個購入した。いざという時には２つのロビーチェアを移動して，横に並べてベッド代わりに使用できるようにしておいた。併せて，およそ20年前に三菱総合研究所で勤務していたとき以来のことになるが，寝袋も購入していた。

　実際に，研究室でこれらのロビーチェアのレイアウトを変更して，寝袋を利用する必要性が発生したのは，今回が初めてのことになった。今後，このような必要性が起きるような事態がないことを願うばかりである。

On the night of Thursday, February 27, through Friday, February 28, I had to stay overnight in my office due to urgent work.

On Thursday, August 8, 2024, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck at a depth of approximately 31 kilometers off the coast of Hyuga-nada, Miyazaki Prefecture. In response, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued its first-ever special Nankai Trough earthquake advisory, labeled “Warning for a Large Earthquake.”

Partly because of this event, I began to think that it might be a good idea to prepare my university office for overnight stays. As a result, I purchased two lobby chairs, each 1.8 meters wide. In case of an emergency, I could move the two chairs together and use them as a makeshift bed. Additionally, for the first time since my days at Mitsubishi Research Institute about 20 years ago, I also bought a sleeping bag.

This was the first time I actually had to rearrange the lobby chairs and use the sleeping bag in my office. I sincerely hope that I won’t have to do so again in the future.
