The worry is H5N1 bird flu becomes airborne transmissible between humans. In birds infection occurs via the intestinal route. In cows it is an udder disease.
H5N1 causing flu-like respiratory symptoms in humans would be step 1 to a pandemic. So that is tested, negative up to now.
