Interview:ZIP(Indonesia)

NO EXCUSEは国内ではコアなハードコアファンを中心に認知度が高まってきていると思うが、ZIPについては初めて名前を聴く方も多いのではないだろうか。しかし、インドネシア本国では絶大な人気を誇るのは、ライブ映像の盛り上がりを見ていただければ、お分かりいただけるだろう。

やはり、まず楽曲が素晴らしい。質感はViolent ReactionやArms Race的なパンク色の強い80年代ハードコアのリバイバルサウンドだが、それらよりもユースクルー的なキャッチーさも備わっている。それでいてタフである。
それもそのはず、Final Attackなど重鎮バンドのメンバーが在籍するオールスターバンドなのである。

月末の来日に向けて実施した、彼らのインタビューですが、日本のバンドもたくさん出てくるのでぜひ読んでみてください。

1.バンドを始めたのはいつですか?他にメンバーがいるバンドがあれば教えてください。

バンドは当初、2020年にコロナ渦でプロジェクトバンドとしてスタートしましたが、開始から何年も経ってこのような反響が得られるとは思っていませんでした。最初は私（Jan）とAditya Indraだけでしたが、その後、Final AttackのChinoにバンドに加わるようアプローチしました。
そして、Bagas（Tarrkam、Morgensolなど、多くのバンドで演奏している）とRegiを招くことに成功して、今のメンバーに至ります。
彼らはいくつかの地元のインディーズバンドの代役も務めています。

2.あなたに影響を与えたバンドを教えてください。

ZIPは主に80年代初頭から中期のUSHC（特にDC、ボ​​ストン、いくつかのNYHCのもの）の多くのバンドに影響を受けていますが、UK82、スウェーデンのパンク、イギリスのものなどの影響もあります。いくつか例を挙げると、SS Decontrol、初期Agnostic Front、DYS、Totalitär、S.O.A、Life’s Blood、The Partisans、Negative Approach などのバンドが好きです

3.ZIPのサウンドはNo Excuseと比べるとパンク色が強いと思いますが、普段はパンクシーンのバンドともライブをしているんですか？

はい、そうです！私たちは異なるサウンドやアプローチがあるバンドと演奏するのが大好きなので、さまざまなスタイルのパンク (その他も) のショーに一緒に参加できるのはとても光栄に思っています。

4.日本のハードコアシーンについての印象は何ですか？率直なご意見をお聞かせください。好きなバンドがあればそれもです。

すごい！日本のハードコア/パンク シーンは、70 年代後半から 80 年代初頭にかけて、常に素晴らしいものでした。私 (Jan) は、個人的に ADK のレコード (あぶらだこ、LSD、Gauze、G-Zet などのバンド) や、The Execute,GAI,Disclose (Kawagami four!),D.S.B,Systematic Death,The Sexual, Confuse, Bastard, Guitar Wolf, Death Side, Lip Cream, Total FuryなどのレジェンドのバンドからLow Vision, KLONNS, The Breath,Blow Your Brains Outのような新しいバンドまで。日本のハードコア/パンクは完全にヤバああああああああああああああああああああああああ

5.日本で何をしたいですか?

たべる！買い物！ストロングゼロとサッポロを補充するのもいいかも！私はストレートエッジバンドが大好きですが、今やっと世界最高峰のビール、つまり日本のビールを飲むことができます。ビールをもう一杯！

Interview in English

1.When did you start the band? Please let me know if there are any other bands with members.

The band started initially as a pandemic project back in 2020,
we didn’t think it would receive this kind of response years after its inception.
At first, it was me (Jan) and Aditya Indra, then I approached Indra Chino from Final Attack to join the gang,
finally we managed to drag Bagas (who plays in SO MANY BANDS, namely Tarrkam, Morgensol,
he also fills in for couple of indie local bands) & Regi altogether.

2.Please let me know any bands that have influenced you.

ZIP is mainly influenced by a lot bands from the early - mid 80s USHC (particularly DC, Boston and few NYHC stuff) but along the way we sort of mess around and added more influences such as UK82, Swedish punk and British stuff. We like bands such as SS Decontrol, (early) Agnostic Front, DYS, Totalitär, S.O.A, Life’s Blood, The Partisans and Negative Approach to name a few.

3.Compared to NxE, ZIP's sound has a strong punk tone and a strong influence of 80's hardcore. Do you usually perform live with bands from the punk scene too?

Yes, we do! We love to play with a lot bands with different sound & approach, so it’s always great to get lumped into shows with various style of punk (and other stuff too).

4.What is your impression of Japan's hardcore scene? Please give me your honest opinion. If there's a band you like, that's it too.

Subarashii!!! Japanese hardcore/punk scene has always been great since the late 70s/early 80s. I (Jan) personally enjoy listening to a lot of ADK records (bands like Aburadako, LSD, Gauze, G-Zet, etc) as well as bands like The Execute, GAI, Disclose (Kawakami forever!), D.S.B, Systematic Death, The Sexual, Confuse, Bastard, Guitar Wolf, Death Side, Lip Cream, Total Fury and all the way to newer bands like Low Vision, KLONNS, The Breath & Blow Your Brains Out. Japanese hardcore/punk is TOTAL YABAAAAAAIIIIIIIIII AAAAARRGGHHH

5.What do you want to do in Japan?

Taberu! Shopping! Maybe have some strong zero & sapporo to top it up! I love straight edge bands but now I can finally sip the best beer in the whole goddamn world: JAPANESE BEER. ビールをもう一杯!

6.A final word!

Don’t take hardcore for granted but don’t take it too seriously. Live life, take a chill pill & stay cray!
