My Work- Working as an Overseas sales manager
I was 25 years old when I started my job as an overseas sales person at
Regeta.
Sales was new and a very unexpected choice as my career. I must say I was
very nervous about the journey ahead and the challenges it will bring. The
culture was new, the country was new, even if I learnt Japanese language back
in India still listening it everyday and communicating in it was new.
But despite of all the challenges all I new was that I wanted to be in Japan.
Lucky for me I found a great work place where I was able to explore, put my
thoughts ahead and learn from everyone at Regeta.
My responsibilities as an overseas sales manager is communicating with
existing clients, meeting their needs, getting orders from them and carrying
out a smooth shipment process.
Along with this I along with the Vice President work in finding new overseas
business opportunities. Regeta currently has physical stores in Hong Kong,
Taiwan, Malaysia, Cambodia, Bhutan and Vietnam. We also have online sales
in Singapore and South Korea.
Currently we are working on another interesting project which if goes well as
planned will help open new doors for Regeta.
How does a normal say in my life looks like…?
Starting my day with grabbing a cup of coffee and checking my mails.
As I am working with people outside of Japan, I always receive mail after the
working hours sometimes late at night so I check my inbox before starting my
work and reply to the once which need immediate attention.
During the shipment season I am busy with making INVOICE and confirming
the schedule for the delivery of products.
As its post covid many of our customers are working on improving the EC
sales so making all the required documents and data ready for them is my
other task recently. I also work for improving the overseas social media reach
for the company by making the English website and managing the companies
LinkedIn account.
As a sales person for the global market I am able to experience a lot of new
things. New work culture, new way of approach regarding a new country, new
challenges. But at the bottom of all this is the thought of making people
experience the product of Regeta.
Seeing the satisfaction on their faces makes all the work worth it.
Overseas sales can be tough as we are not aware about the particular
countries ways of working and what they are expecting from us and what
should we expect from them. But at the same time it gives you a flexible
mindset. I have to be open to the various ways of work and schedules.
We might encounter someone who is difficult to work with, but still need to
put a smile and try to understand and work with the customer.
Despite of all the challenges the most motivational thing in my work is the
amazing working culture at Regeta.
Even though I am the only foreigner I never felt the pressure from my seniors
or my team who instead are always helping and welcoming.
Working at Regeta you get to explore, take challenges, get guidance, learn
and grow from the mistakes.
Importance is given to the work life balance and taking leave when it is
important is given value.
I hear from many of my Indian friends about the difficulties they face
adapting to their work environment in Japan as well as in India.
In today’s time being able to work at a place which suits you is very
important.
