WOW って何でしょう？

パキスタン国内での無償プラグラムで、Women on Wheels の頭文字をとったものです。

正式には、Women on Wheels driving program で、女性に無料で、バイクの乗り方を教える取組みです。

お国柄、女性の二輪車運転は、タブー視されている中、男性の手を借りずとも、自由に大学・仕事場・市場などへ行ける様に、女性の自立を助けるプログラムです。

The WOW program has been in operation since 2017 but has become increasingly popular in recent months as car prices have soared and motorcycles offer a cheaper alternative.

soar = 上昇する (increase の言換えとして便利)
alternative = 代替

Learning to drive a two-wheeler gave program participants a deep sense of achievement and empowerment.

participant = 参加者
empowerment = 力を与えること
