新聞記事からの引用で、英作文技法を考えてみたいと思います。

① 身近な語彙で、印象に残る表現をしよう ( "hand" 編)
       ・The future is in our hands - swift and decisive action can still alter the 
           trajectory of our future climate.

             swift = 迅速な
             decisive = 断固とした
             alter = 変える (change の言換えとして便利)
             trajectory = 軌道

             英検試験の結果も、受験生の皆様の手にかかっています！
　　　　"The future is in your hand - hard work can alter the result of
                the exam."

 　・Trump will have freeer hand to pursue his economic agenda.

           pursue = 追求する
           agenda = 課題

② 対立する語彙を使って、説得力アップ
      The resulting system is what Washington has long called the "liberal" or
      "rules-based" international order.  Imperfect as it has been, it strives to
      balance might against right, interests against values and realism with
      idealism.

         order = 秩序
         strive to balance = 釣り合いを保つ様に努力する
         might / right = 力 / 権利
         interests / values = 利権 / 価値観
         realism / idealism = 現実主義 / 理想主義

引用では難解な対立語彙もありますが、身近な語彙でも応用できます。

例えば、truth / lie,  "do more harm than good" など。
