世界こどもの日 (World Children's Day)

大阪を拠点に、オンラインでサービスをご提供している、英検英作文専門添削教室の藤澤です。

一日過ぎてしまいましたが、11月20日は ”世界こどもの日" (World Children's Day) でした。

1954年に国連によって制定され、ユニセフ (UNICEFF) も普及に努めています。
その目的は、子どもの権利の認識向上と福祉向上です。

Child's rights are human rights.  They are non-negotiable and universal.  But in too many places today, children's rights are being misunderstood, disregarded or even denied and attacked.

Upholding children's rights is the compass to a better world - today, tomorrow and into the future.

universal = 普遍的な
disregard = 軽視する
deny = 否定する
uphold = 擁護する
compass = 羅針盤

世界が目指すべき方向を学べると共に、英語表現も学習できます。

"non-negotiable"、"compass" 、"today, tomorrow and into the future" などの表現は、簡易な語彙でも、なかなか使えないもので、英検英作文問題採点基準「内容」で評価される ”説得力" アップに、間接的ながらも、役立ちそうです。

upholding に見られる動名詞主語は、英検1級・準1級・2級を問わず、文型の多様性向上に役立ち、結果、同採点基準「文法」での評価アップに繋がります。

日本のマスコミにも、この日をもっと取り上げて頂きたかったです・・・。
