シダレウメ 白花 （城南宮編）
枝垂梅 白花（シダレウメ シロバナ）
バラ目、バラ科、アンズ属、ウメ種
京都の梅の名所のひとつに数えられている
城南宮（ジョウナングウ）、まさに今は
枝垂梅が、紅白ともに満開の状況にある。
日本人も多いが、世界からの観光客たちも
梅の花を背景に仲間同士で記念撮影を楽しみ
日本の京都で良い思い出が出来た事であろう。
梅は元々は中国を原産とする樹木で奈良時代
より前には日本に渡来していたとされる。
日本国内での『花見』の歴史は桜ではなくて
梅がその始まりと云われる。桜と梅の違いは
開花時の香りが、梅は仄かに香るそれが強い
点である。なので白人女性たちはキャッキャ
と梅花に顔を近付けて香りを楽しむ様子など
微笑ましく眺めたのである。
梅の花は、撮影した時間帯によって表情が
変わる。という事で、昼の１２時頃のもの、
夕の１６時頃のものとに分けて掲載した。

Jonangu Shrine in Kyoto is counted among the famous plum blossom spots in the city. At this very moment, both red and white weeping plum blossoms are in full bloom.
While many Japanese visitors are present, tourists from around the world are also enjoying themselves, taking commemorative photos with the plum blossoms in the background. No doubt, they have made wonderful memories in Kyoto, Japan.
Plum trees originally come from China and are believed to have arrived in Japan before the Nara period. In fact, the history of hanami (flower viewing) in Japan began not with cherry blossoms but with plum blossoms. One of the key differences between them is fragrance—while cherry blossoms have little scent, plum blossoms emit a distinct, sweet aroma.
It was heartwarming to see Western women excitedly bringing their faces close to the flowers, delighting in their fragrance.
Plum blossoms take on different expressions depending on the time of day they are photographed. For this reason, I have included images taken at two different times: one around noon (12:00 PM) and another in the late afternoon (4:00 PM).
