Why we started MEMEME

The founder, Elliott, and the main illustrator, Ichiha Fujiyama, has disabilities and have some difficulties in social life, although they specialize in the creation.

"MEMEME" is a project to prove that people with disabilities can play an active role in the world.
MEMEME is committed to achieving this goal.

And our key phrase, "Creative to the face. Resist the gaze."
This phrase represents the real-life experience of the main illustrator, Ichiha Fujiyama. Ichiha Fujiyama has a phobia of gazes. This symptom is a feeling of being accused by the gazes of others. As an effect, depression and panic are also likely to occur.

But she has already overcome that fear. That's because she realized that "Being an artist" is her life, and is something she really wants to specialize in. If you are serious about working toward that, and it becomes a work of art, then it is okay to be seen.  She realized that she could say to herself,
"I want people to look at me, in my art!"

That is the theme at the core of this project. If people can declare "I specialize in something," no matter what their life difficulties are, and if this is more socially accepted, and if the world becomes a more confident place, we can reduce the number of people who suffer from their situation, hardships, and characteristics.
More than the effect of short-term financial and welfare support, creating active roll and value in diverse people in the world has a long-term meaning.

MEMEME will do its best to bring about such social change.

based on Ichiha Fujiyama's experience

Founder's Background

I am engaged in three main activities.

  • Self-produced Vtuber

  • Management of "DIGITAL butter Inc.", a company that operates welfare projects

  • Freelance creator

And my personality and character traits include the following

  • Diagnosed with a developmental disability (ADHD/ASD)

  • Had depression and social anxiety disorder in the past

  • In the past, has been issued a medical care certificate for services and supports for independence

  • Good Skills in illustration and music production

  • Great at calculation, analysis, and brainstorming

  • Difficulty in understanding what is between the lines that cannot be expressed in words

  • Easily acts on impulse and has difficulty in cleaning up

  • Overconcentrate and forget things too often

As you can see, I am good at coming up with ideas, analyzing them, and using creator's techniques to realize them. On the other hand, I cannot maintain a balance of concentration and am not good at doing the assigned work properly. I also tend to think deeply and are prone to depression.

As a result of my nature, I was diagnosed with a developmental disability several years ago.
Because of this, I have always thought about the difficulties associated with disabilities and illnesses and "each person's unique aptitude".

Belief tweets

Here is the text I tweeted in announcing MEMEME.

(1/8)
I would like to talk about my beliefs.
■ I believe that the world is a place where potentials can be buried.
■First of all, we need to remove barriers on the side of society.
■The distribution of opportunities for people to play an active role is directly related to the maturity of society.

These are the three issues that I am always trying to face.

(2/8)
If life is a game, there is the problem of the unequal hand (cards) dealt at the start.
Environment, family, characteristics, traits, assets... cards for various items are dealt in different ways.
If life is to be a fair game, the cards must be able to be equally distributed and exchanged as much as possible to give equal opportunity.

(3/8)
And your opponent in the game of life is not others, but yourself.
If you can beat your own discontentment and gain satisfaction, you are clear.
You can fight with the cards you have on hand for that, or you can lend or borrow them to others and clear the game through cooperative play.
What prevents us from doing so is "barriers on the part of society.

(4/8)
What are the barriers on the side of society?
I am sure there are many.
If I had to pick one, I would say "indifference".
Thinking about society may mean first taking an interest in oneself and one's immediate surroundings.
If we remain indifferent to what issues your people are facing, in the end, society will become weak.

(5/8)
Actually, through this project, we are not trying to just say "give consideration to people with disabilities". Rather, we want to give people a chance to think about whether the world is creating any barriers.
We want to eliminate barriers. To do that, we want to draw people's attention to it.
That is the purpose of this project.

(6/8)
We see the nature of "disability (or barriers)" in society as the fact that society is not yet sufficiently able to distribute, assist, and take advantage of such individual characteristics and potentials. The disability of an individual can become his/her individuality and characteristics if society accepts it.
Capabilities do not shine unless there is a place for them to be demonstrated.

(7/8)
We believe that the distribution of opportunities and the diversification of the stage of activity will lead to the maturation of society.
People who feel disadvantaged, as well as those who do not, would benefit more from a world with fair opportunities.
Even if our project is small at this moment, I believe that we can spread our influence by showing our attitude toward it.

(8/8)
"MEMEME"
A project to spotlight creators with gazing phobia, disabilities, and related issues, and to prove their success. We would like to take just one small step with you toward a society without barriers, where unnoticed potentials are not buried.
Let's get this rolling!

Why NFTs?

Why did we choose to do this project as NFT?
The biggest reason is that it does not end with the sale of artwork, but also allows for excellent community building at the same time.
By operating a DISCORD server, we can incorporate a variety of opinions and also provide a variety of utilities and give back to NFT holders.
It would not end with the sale of the work, but would allow those who have purchased the work to continue to feel what significance and meaning this purchase had for them.

MEMEME Utilities

As of February 20, these utilities (benefits for NFT holders) are planned

・Admission to our original metaverse space
・Distribution of MEMEME avatars (VRM format) for use in various metaverses and streaming
・Opportunity to request free commissions from our creators
・Passes for future NFT projects (AL, AirDrop, etc.)
・A holder is a proof of having created a place for people in socially difficult situations to be active.

We will continuously offer a variety of benefits to help the community thrive. Additional announcements regarding avatars and metaverse will be made in the future 😊

Our Mission

We do not want to stop at supporting people with disabilities, but we want to bring opportunities for all those who have come to feel difficulties in living to take on challenges in a brighter world.
MEMEME NFT can support people just by holding them. Furthermore, it will push creators to be more active. MEMEME is the first step in this process.
To all of you who are interested, I ask for your continued support of MEMEME! 😊

Next time, we will talk about the MEMEME name and the characteristics of the work✨

See you next time!
