基本スクリプト④－核兵器を保持すべきか
今年は日本原水爆被害者団体協議会（日本被団協）がノーベル平和賞を受賞したため、出るかなと思って準備したスクリプトです。さすがにホットな話題すぎて出ませんでしたが、近々出る可能性はあるテーマだと思います。
現実の国際情勢を踏まえるとつっこみどころ満載ではありますが、ここはやはり核は持つべきではないという回答の方がシンプルにまとめやすいと思いました。
設問：日本は自衛のために核兵器を保有すべきか。

No. I don’t think Japan should have nuclear weapons for self-defense. I have 3 reasons to support my opinion.
Firstly, nuclear weapons have catastrophic destructive power. Their use would result in severe humanitarian damage and long-term environmental harm.
Secondly, possessing nuclear weapons could increase tensions with other countries, leading to an arms race. If Japan were to obtain nuclear weapons, surrounding countries such as China and Korea might feel the need to increase their own nuclear weapons. This could make the situation less safe rather than more secure.
Lastly, as the only country that has experienced nuclear attacks, Japan has a special role in promoting nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
For these reasons, I think Japan should not possess nuclear weapons for self defense.

Japan should ensure its safety by pursuing diplomacy, strengthening international alliance, and enhancing its own defense capabilities, such as enhanced technology to intercept nuclear missiles targeting Japan.

私は日本が自衛のために核兵器を持つべきではないと思います。私にはその意見を支持する3つの理由があります。
まず第一に、核兵器は壊滅的な破壊力を持っています。その使用は深刻な人道的被害と長期的な環境への影響をもたらすでしょう。
第二に、核兵器を所有することは他国との緊張を高め、軍拡競争を引き起こす可能性があります。もし日本が核兵器を取得すれば、周辺国である中国や韓国は自国の核兵器を増やす必要を感じるかもしれません。これにより、安全が増すどころか、状況はむしろ不安定になる可能性があります。
最後に、核攻撃を受けた唯一の国として、日本は核不拡散と軍縮を促進する特別な役割を担っています。
これらの理由から、私は日本が自衛のために核兵器を持つべきではないと思います。
（面接対策用、脅威にどう対応すべきかとの問いに対して）
脅威にどう対応すべきかについてですが、日本は外交を進め、国際的な同盟を強化し、核ミサイルを迎撃するための技術を向上させるなど、防衛能力を強化することで自国の安全を確保すべきです。
上記は日本についてでしたが、「核兵器を持つ権利をすべての国が持つべきか」という設問で回答を考えてみました。
①②はほとんど上と同じです。さらに③で核兵器の小型化が核使用のハードルを下げているので、今まで以上に規制が重要だということを述べました。核兵器の小型化については他のテーマでも使えます。

This is why I believe all nations should not have the right to possess nuclear weapons for self-defense.

第二に、追加の国々が核兵器を取得することは、大きな力の不均衡を生み出し、地域的な緊張を高める可能性があります。
