Hello Eager Listeners, everyone!
In this video you’ll be learning the importance of protecting your device or platform with strong passwords and how to manage them. But before we start, let’s understand… What is a password?
Password is a string of characters that users have to key in to verify themselves during an authentication process.
Why is it important to have a strong password? Having a password simply protects you from being hacked. However, having a STRONG password makes it harder or almost impossible for your account to be hacked even by professional hackers. Here are some of the list of common things that SHOULD BE password protected. It includes Gadgets, Platforms, Services and Documents. In order to protect your device or computer systems from unauthorised usage and data theft a good password policy must be put in place and continuously practised by all users.

Let’s hear some tips from our expert on the strategies you can adopt when creating and managing your password. Good Password Policy.

A good password policy should include the following guidelines:
1. Always use complex passwords of at least 8-12 character length
2. Should include upper and lowercase, numbers, and special characters.
3. Avoid words found in the dictionary.
4. Avoid using passwords that include your personal information such as your name, birthdate, or Family name.
Here are 5 Tips on how you can stay protected
1-Keep your password confidential!
The most basic precaution is to NOT divulge or share your password with anyone.
2-Do not use the same password for different devices or services
Create different yet similar ones so that you can remember easily.
3-Change passwords on a regular basis
Most security guidelines have recommended frequent password changes usually between 30 and 180 days.
To keep track of all the different password after changing them regularly we recommend you to use a password manager software to record all your updated password/pin. This is a more secure way of storing your password instead of writing down passwords on sticky notes or saving in an email.
4-Always clear cache when you log out on a shared device.
There is a common risk that you save 'autofill password' on a shared device when you are using it. It is important to clear any password information when you are logging off from a shared device.
