"I'm fine."と"Good bye."
【英語日記 2022/12 - 2023/01】
I watched this YouTube channel after the first English conversation class.
They are so funny.
Many of the videos are not only interesting but also very informative.
One of the members, Kevin, is a native English speaker and is always ready to teach us the nuances of English that Japanese people tend to get wrong!
And I learned…My greeting was not too good.
When a teacher said “How are you?”, I said “ I’m fine.”
And, when I left the classroom, I said “Goodbye”
They are not wrong. But not too good.
Apparently, the nuance is not very good, so other ways of saying it is better.
But, the teacher complimented me when I said “I’m fine.”
Because I continued to talk. I talked about that I saw the movie in the theater.
She said my way of starting the conversation was good.
So I learned that just saying “I’m fine.” is not good.
But after saying it, talking about why and what happen is so good.

Recentry, I don’t say “I’m fine.”😂
But I can’t greet fluently.
I always think what I should say…
This class, I talked about greeting with my teacher.
And he said “My students every time say “I’m fine.” why??”
So I explained this reason…
Japanese learn greetings like this in a junior high school…
It was funny, but secretly, I was relieved that I wasn’t the only one😂
And Good-bye also sounds sarcastic way of saying “I’ll never see you again, though,” depending on how you say it, the YouTuber said.
Oh no…
I said “Good bye” at the first class.
So recently, I don’t say “I’m fine” and “Good bye”😂
ではまた!
