Exploring 2024 trends with Liam Payne and Kate
As 2024 is coming to a close, let's check out some 2024 trends that at least I mainly discovered through Liam's Snapchat, Kate's TikTok, and other Liam Payne fan Instagram accounts. I'm not Gen Z so I don't usually pursue these trends actively, but it's interesting to know.
Charli XCX Apple dance:
Personally I didn't care to learn about the meaning on 'brat' even if it was a 'brat summer' or if Kamala was brat, but I loved Charli XCX hosting SNL (Saturday Night Live) - so far one of the best episodes of season 50.
On Liam's Snapchat (at least on mobile, not PC), you can see Liam being taught this dance by Kate.
The original dance:
The most famous cover was by the Twisters cast - Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, and Anthony Ramos. Also - 2024 was pretty much Glen Powell's year as well, and I still love Hamilton. Daisy Edgar Jones in Anne Hathaway with The Substance (There was a meme about that). I saw the original Twister on a day there was a strong typhoon in the Kanto area of Japan, and now I think Wicked is pretty much a mashup of Twister and the Wizard of Oz. I haven't seen it, so I might be completely wrong..
Crumbl cookies
This is a Kate only video but yeah, the Crumbl cookies that are all the rage on social media right now. So far just scrolling through TikTok, aside from members of the public I have also seen Kylie Jenner and Lili Reinhart try the cookies. For people willing to try (if they are in the US), it's $5.99 for a single cookie, and $22.99 for a four pack like Kate's. Personally, I don't need to try it, and we don't need this in Japan lol.
Squishmallows
These are mentioned in the now infamous to and from Florida to Argentina Kate videos.
In late Sep (before leaving for Argentina), Liam and Kate got a fall Squishmallow:
True to her words, Kate brought along a Squishmallow on a flight in mid August, presumably to the UK
Extra: Sidecar Donuts
Not a 2024 thing, but there Liam posted in late August on Snapchat about going to eat Sidecar Donuts. Given that Liam tends to post things very late, we can assume this is when he was still in California in early August.
