親愛なる息子へ

今日は、お昼に　Mamaの友達がランチできてくれたよ。

そのお友達（Gさん）の息子（Nくん）さんは、日本に2か月ほど滞在しているんだけど、Papaが、 少しサポートしてるんだ。

日本の幼稚園に通う手続きをしたり、スイミングや合気道を習ったりね。

英語はネイティブなんだけど、日本語にとっても興味がある息子さんだから、君が成長したら お兄さんのような存在になるかもしれないね。

彼とは5歳くらい離れているけれど、きっと頼りになる 存在になる気がするよ。

Mamaは、とっても楽しそうに話していた。お互いバックグラウンドが似ていているし、そのお友達は 香港で、Mamaは台湾がバックグラウンドだけど、お互いカナダで育っているしね。

話を聞いていて、育児は勿論、教育のこととか、色々と参考になったよ。

ところで、最近、君は　便通がとてもいい気がする。

Mamaの母乳を飲んでいることもあると思うし、 粉ミルクの種類を変えたことも関係しているのかな、、、

いずれにせよ、とっても良い傾向だと思う。

日本は異常に暑い日が続いているけれど、君は未だ、退院して間もないし　外にでることは極力控えながら、見守っていきたいと思っているよ。

Dear  Son

Today, Mama’s friend came over for lunch.

Mama’s friend’s son has been staying in Japan for about two months, and Papa has been helping him out a bit. Papa has been helping with enrolling him in a Japanese kindergarten, as well as arranging swimming and Aikido lessons.

The son is a native English speaker but has a strong interest in Japanese. When you grow up, he might become like an older brother figure to you. Although you’re about five years apart, Papa is sure he will be someone you can rely on.

Mama seemed very happy talking with her friend. They have similar backgrounds. Mama’s friend is originally from Hong Kong and Mama from Taiwan, but they both grew up in Canada. Listening to their conversation was really insightful, especially about parenting and education.

Lately, you’ve been having regular bowel movements, which is great. It could be because you’re breastfeeding or maybe the change in formula is helping. Either way, it’s a very good sign.

Japan has been experiencing unusually hot weather, but since you’ve just been discharged from the hospital, we’re going to avoid going outside as much as possible and keep a close eye on you.

Grow up healthy, happy, and strong.
