親愛なる息子へ
役所続きの一日。君の書類の手続きで、
移民局や、区役所に奔走した一日だったよ。
Mamaが主に書類作業をし、Papaはコインランドリーにいったり、君のケアをしていたよ。時々、
Mamaから電話があり、区役所に行って署名したりね。
思った以上に、スムーズに進み、今日でほとんどの書類作業が終わったんだ。
あとは、週末に パスポートセンターにいって
書類作業をし、週明けに書類を取りにいけば
Missionクリア。 君の書類のこと、そして何より、病気をしているお母さんと君との面会が
大きな目的だったんだよ。
大切なことを一番大切にしながら、君とMamaと過ごしていけたらと思う。
書類作業の後は、PapaとMamaは君を連れて、
マッサージ店へ。(Mamaの友達のSさんのご両親さんが営んでいる本店にいったんだ) SさんとMamaはとっても仲良しで、後日 Sさん家族の
自宅にも行くことになってるんだ。
夕方は、新店の山の上の方にある、Sさん(また、Mamaの別の友達。小学生自宅の親友)の家にいったよ。小学生自宅の友人たちが集まっていて、
家族もいたり総勢9人ほどで年越しをしたんだ。
カウンドダウンする時は、みんなでマンションの
屋上にあがり、101という名所で打ち上がる花火をみたよ。
風が強くてとても寒かったけど、初めての年越しを海外でして、Papaは新鮮な気持ちだった。
Mamaはもちろん、そうなんだけど、Mamaの友達も国際的な友達、家族が多いから Papaはとても刺激を受けているよ。
君には、日本で生まれた 日本人としての誇りを大切にしながらも、国際感覚豊かに育ってほしいとPapaは心から願っているよ。
どんな道を歩むにしても、自分の人生を切り拓いていけるように。

Today was all about paperwork. Papa&Mama spent the day running between the immigration office and the ward office, working on your documents.
Mama handled most of the paperwork while Papa went to the laundromat and took care of you. Sometimes Mama called Papa to head to the ward office to sign something. Everything went more smoothly than expected, and we managed to finish most of the tasks today.
Now, all that’s left is for Papa to visit the passport center this weekend to submit some documents and pick them up early next week. Mission accomplished!
The purpose behind all these errands was to prepare your documents and, more importantly, to arrange for you to meet your grandmother, who isn’t well. Papa hopes to keep focusing on what truly matters—spending time with you and Mama while cherishing these moments together.
After completing the paperwork, Papa and Mama took you to a massage shop. This shop is run by the parents of S-san, a close friend of Mama’s. Later, we’re also planning to visit S-san’s family home, which will be fun.
In the evening, Papa and Mama went with you to the home of another S-san—Mama’s childhood friend from elementary school. Their house is located high up in the mountains of Xindian. A group of about nine people, including their family, gathered there to celebrate the New Year together.
When the countdown began, everyone went up to the rooftop of the apartment building to watch fireworks from Taipei 101, a famous landmark. It was windy and very cold, but this was Papa’s first time celebrating New Year’s abroad, and it felt refreshing.
Mama has always been surrounded by friends with international backgrounds, and that atmosphere inspires Papa a lot. Papa hopes that you grow up proud of being born in Japan while also becoming someone with a broad global perspective. No matter what path you choose, Papa wishes for you to live a life where you carve out your own destiny.
