What kind of teacher do I aim to be?
I'm currently on leave from work, thinking about this at home. I've been pondering, "What kind of teacher am I aiming to be?" and "What kind of teacher did I originally aspire to be?"
During my preparatory school days, it was the classes of the prep school teachers that changed me from someone who disliked studying. I realized that studying is truly interesting, and that increasing one's knowledge and culture is really enjoyable.
After having such experiences, I thought, "If I could change this much, now I want to become a teacher myself and give students the joy of learning." This led me to aspire to become a teacher.
And so, I fulfilled my dream and became an elementary school teacher.
I've had many wonderful experiences. As a teacher, I've been thanked by children and parents. However, there's also the opposite. Experiences of being blamed. Experiences of things not going well. There are many such instances.
Looking at the current state of children, I feel they're not eager to learn. There are many children who have no desire to learn.
Dealing with such children and parents, and seeing little change despite my efforts - I'm feeling down about this current situation.
And now, I'm on leave to give myself a break.
Many things happened at school, and I made the decision to take this leave.
Now, what I'm thinking about during this leave is: What kind of teacher do I want to be from now on?
It's a long story, but I believe that nurturing "children who learn on their own" is crucial for future education.
Giving them the impression, experience, and stimulation that "learning is interesting!" As a teacher, by doing this, students will realize "learning is fun!" and develop the energy to learn on their own. I want to become a teacher who can create such a mechanism or setup.
As the population decreases, we're facing a society where we can't just speak in platitudes anymore.
In the coming era, people with immediately applicable skills will be in demand.

  • Enhancing "individual strength"

  • Acquiring knowledge and skills in specific fields

Such education will likely be required.
I know this isn't the only essence of education, though.
Therefore, I...
Want to continue striving to be "someone who can bring innovation through education".
