"Still Breathing" - Green Day; つらくても、生きている【和訳】
Green Day大阪公演が無事に終了したよう。Xのおすすめ欄に勝手にセットリストの画像が流れてきて困る。見ないようにスクロールしている。
動画も流れてくるが、それも見ない。
ここでの予習が当たるか外れるか、当日まで楽しみにしておきたいのだ。
しかし。もうツアーは始まっているというのになかなか進まない予習。
プライベートも仕事の方も地味に忙しくて。夜は眠いし朝も眠い。
この連休は体力温存と予習の追い込みに充てたいとおもう。
というわけで、今回は12枚目のアルバム『Revolution Radio』7曲目に収録の「Still Breathing」を。
辛いことがあっても、生きている限りまだ進める。そんなふうに、希望を持つことを肯定してくれる曲だ。
パンクロック／ポップパンクという音楽について語るときには何度も書いてきた気がするが、上から「頑張れ」なんて言うんじゃなくて「自分も辛いことあったけど、なんとかなってるよ。だからもうちょっと生きてみよう」って、隣に立って手を引いてくれるようなスタンスの歌詞が多い。わたしはパンクのそういうところがいちばん好きなのだ。
パンクは若者や抑圧された人々の代弁者という形で始まり、発展していったからなのかな。と、ふと考えた。
とにかく、明るい気持ちになれる曲だ。ぜひライブで聴いてビリーと一緒に歌いたい。
