「神楽坂」を英語で推すには？
この連載では、著者の藤代あゆみ先生が日本の「推せる!」ものについて毎回、１分間程度の英語で紹介していきます。みなさんが自分の好きなものについて英語で話す際にお役立てください。今回推すのは「神楽坂」です。
Step 1 次の内容を1分間英語で話そう！
●まずは下記の内容を英語で話せるか挑戦してみましょう。
神楽坂は美食と芸者文化で日本人にはよく 知られている。神楽坂のメインストリートは 平凡に見えるけど、一歩路地裏に入ると、江 戸時代のような雰囲気の古い町並みが広がっ ているんだ。神楽坂が新宿区内にあることに 驚くかもしれない！ 神楽坂は新宿駅から電 車で 10 ～ 15 分ほどのところにあるんだ。
面白いことに、この地域は特にフランス料 理で有名なんだ。東京日仏学院があるから、 フランス人も大勢住んでいる！ 神楽坂に立 ち寄れば洋食も和食も食べられるよ！
Step 2 1分間英語を丸暗記しよう！
●上記の日本語を英訳した一例です。丸ごと暗記してしまいましょう。
Kagurazaka is well-known among Japanese people for gastronomy and geisha culture. The area’s main street looks ordinary, but once you step into the back alleys, you’ll discover an old town with an atmosphere resembling the Edo period. You may be surprised that Kagurazaka is actually located inside the city of Shinjuku! Kagurazaka is about 10 to 15 minutes by train from Shinjuku Station.
One fun fact is that the area is particularly famous for French cuisine. This is because the Institut Francais de Tokyo is located there. Many French people live in the area! Drop by Kagurazaka to eat both Western and Japanese food!
Step 3 使える表現をカスタマイズしよう！

❷ step into the back alleys : 路地裏に足を踏み入れる

（観光客は滅多にその路地裏に足を踏み入れない）
❸ be about 10 minutes from... : ～から約10分
【応用】It is about 10 minutes from the airport to the hotel by shuttle bus.
（空港からホテルまでシャトルバスで約10分かかる）
❹ one fun fact is that... : 面白い事実の一つは～
【応用】One fun fact is that honey never spoils.
（面白い事実の一つは、蜂蜜は決して腐らないことです）
❺ drop by... : 立ち寄る、ちょっと寄る
【応用】We can drop by the art gallery on our way home.
（帰り道にアートギャラリーにちょっと寄りましょうよ）
