The secret of why pure cotton Daiginjo towels are gentle to the skin
Through the combing process of spinning, which removes the shortest portion of Supima cotton fibers, over 20% of the short fibers are removed by combing. Since the normal combing process usually removes about 13% of the fibers, an extra 7 percentage points of fibers are removed. It is just like Daiginjo-sake where rice grains are removed to the utmost limit to reduce the weight of the sake. Short fibers are removed as if rice grains are shaved with Daiginjo-sake, and only the high-quality long fibers of cotton fiber are left on the pile of the towel. The result is a smooth and slippery towel with minimal irritation to the skin.
Pure Cotton Daiginjo Towel and Junmai Daiginjo Sake
The name " Pure Cotton Daiginjo Towel" for sensitive skin, which took one year to develop through repeated trial and error, comes from Junmai Daiginjo Sake. We have put as much care into the preparation of these towels as we do the finest Japanese sake. Here is a chart.
Pure Cotton Daiginjo Towel (Junmai Daiginjo Sake)
Raw materials: extra-long Supima cotton (Yamada Nishiki) / Refining: luxuriously short fibers are combed and shaved (rice grains are scraped and polished) / Method of production: Finishing: enzymes and natural soap are used for refining and finishing. Synthetic detergents and caustic soda are not used (rice malt alone is used to make sake. (Brewer's alcohol is not used) / Texture (taste): Soft, light, and refreshing.
