I went to Opera house to see The Australian Ballet’s Carmen last night. This performance is brilliant. I have watched Carmen a lot of times with several types, but I have never watched before such as this direction.

This stage such as the factory where Carmen works is redesigned to modern facility. And Toreador was redesigned to like a disco hero such as John Travolta. A children appears throughout this performance as an observer. This is not original character.

After prelude for Act 1, He appears with ball and play it. But he was robbed his ball by strange man. He was invited the Carmen World like “Alice in Wonderland”.

While prelude for Act 4, He acts the child between Carmen and José. He has a doll like Carmen from then, but he destroyed this doll after José killed Carmen. He could free from Carmen’s world and come back to his world. José remains to seized by Carmen.The cage also looks like Pinocchio’s strings.

Music was performed by Strings orchestra and percussions. There is some electronic music as additional score. I feel the sounds make comically in some scenes than original. That is effective direction.

On Sunday evening, I watched “The Birds “ directed by Hitchcock at State Museum. At here, we can watch the classical movie twice a week for free. Around 100 people attended this event.

“The Birds” is constructed logically, wasteful of time, moves, dialogues are nothing. Maybe I will attend to this event every week.
