前回（第３弾）、
2021(令和3)年度の「選択肢から１つ選んで書く」形式の問題を用意しましたが、
２問だけだったので、もう１問追加で練習問題を作りました。

同じ形式で練習しておきたい人は活用してください！

あなたの意見では、若者の成長にとって、以下の活動のうちどれが特に重要でしょうか？（中略）

前回と同様、選択肢が与えられているスタイルの問題。

あくまで英語の試験なので、
「どれを選んだか」で合否が決まるのではなく、
「選んだトピックについて上手く英語で書けているかどうか」がポイントになることを忘れずに選択したい。

今回も、全パターンの解答例を作っておきます。必要に応じて役立ててください！

【解答例】※高校レベルの表現も使っています

(1) "studying"版
In my view, studying is particularly important for the growth of young people. This is because it opens up various opportunities for us. For example, if we study English hard, we will be able to communicate with a wide variety of people around the world. We can also choose to work overseas if we are good at English. Or some people may study programming while they are young. Then, they can the knowledge and skills when they work as programmers. Like this, young people will have more chances to try new things if they study hard. (96 words)

【一言】
「成長するために勉強が大切」というのは分かりやすいけど、
「勉強する→そうして知識やスキルが増える」こと自体が成長といえるので、
そこからさらに展開させて「なぜ勉強すると成長に役立つのか」を説明するのは、実際に書いてみると案外難しい。
プランの段階で「あれ、これ、思いのほか書きにくそうかも」と思ったら、別の選択肢を採用するのもあり。

(2) "playing sports" 版
I think that playing sports is particularly important for young people’s growth. This is because it gives us a good opportunity to set a goal and work hard toward that goal. In my case, I was a member of the track and field club and I set a personal goal to run 100 meters in under 13 seconds. It seemed too difficult at first, but I practiced quite hard and finally achieved the goal. Thanks to this experience, I feel no fear of trying new things. In other words, sports can help young people grow both physically and mentally. (99 words)

【一言】
スポーツは身体的に(physically) 人を強くするだけでなく、
精神的に(mentally) も成長させてくれる、という点に着目して書いたのが上の答案例。
あとは、サッカーやバスケのようなteam sportsを通して、communication skillsを培える…みたいな流れも考えられる。

(3) "reading books" 版
I think that reading books plays an especially important role in the growth of young people. For one thing, we can acquire a lot of knowledge. By reading a book about Japanese history, for example, we will understand Japanese culture more deeply. Also, we use our imagination when we read novels. I am a 15-year-old student living in Japan, but in the world of novels, I can also imagine a life of a very old man living in Europe, or that of a princess. Having a rich imagination will surely help us grow mentally.  (94 words)

【一言】
読書といっても、小説もあれば、社会問題を論じた本もあれば、参考書だって本なわけで、どんな本を取り上げるかによって書き方も変わってくる。

(4) "participating in volunteer activities" 版
In my opinion, participating in volunteer activities is particularly important for young people’s growth. Through volunteering, they will learn that they can help to make society better. For instance, my friends and I cleaned our neighborhood two years ago. This experience taught us that even young people with few skills can help to create a better environment. Also, volunteering is a good opportunity to think about society. Young people will find various social problems through volunteer activities. Then, they will be interested not only in their own lives but also in how to improve society. (95 words)

【一言】
あくまで問題文は「若者の成長」に対しての重要性を問うているので、
「ボランティア活動は大事だ」や
「人助けになる・社会のためになる」等で話を終わらせずに、
それが若者の成長にどう資するのかを書く！ …という視点を忘れずに！

今回は "Choose one and explain why you think so." という問題にしているけど、2021年の過去問では、「理由を１つだけ」書いて、その後で「それをサポートする説明を書け」というパターンだった。

ライティング問題は、問われていることを読み間違えると大変なので、実際に答案用紙に書く前のプランの段階で、よく問題文を読んで確認しておこう。

この年はいきなり「４つの選択肢から選ぶ」というスタイルで驚いた受験生もいたと思うけど、高校入試も大学入試も、問題形式が急に変わることはよくある。ただ、表面的な「問題の見た目」は違っても、問題作成者が試したいのは結局のところ あなたが培ってきた英語力。練習した問題と多少違っていても、自信をもって自分の力をぶつけられるよう応援しています！
