Kalkaska community impacted by power outage

Hundreds of people in Kalkaska were without power Tuesday evening.

Consumers Energy was first alerted to the issue around 4 p.m.

The power outage was throughout downtown Kalkaska and the surrounding area, impacting more than 2,000 homes and businesses.

The cause of the outage was being reported as equipment failure.

Power was restored around 5:45 p.m.
