More than 1,400 in Guilford County now without power

After only sporadic power outages all day, Guilford County now has about 1,440 customers in the dark.

The affected areas shown on Duke Energy’s outage map appear to be just north of I-40/85 where it intersects with I-840 on the eastern end of Greensboro.

This is an area south of McLeansville and west of Sedalia and in two almost equal clusters.

Forsyth County continues to have a significant outage, with the nearly 3,000 in two larger areas representing the fifth-highest total reported on the constantly updated outages map at the NC Department of Public Safety.

The number of outages is down to about 65,000 statewide after having peaked at nearly 100,000.

Forysth County’s outages had surged to about 3,300 as sleet has continued to fall along with temperatures and the wind has picked up across the Piedmont Triad.
