Image Collages （コラージュ）

Early January, I was going to create image collages at least once or twice in a month. But I have not been able to do so yet. It was much more difficult than I expected. I have found that it is much harder to do so than English writing.
When I made up my mind to try it in January, I expected to be able to create them, as I created English writing. I also expected to be able to use the same mindset that I used for the writing. But that was wrong. I needed a different mindset to create the collages.
First, I have to find a topic to sketch, as I do when I write. But just finding the topic is not enough. At the same time, I have to have some image for the topic in my mind. It need not to be a clear sketch, but enough with a vague one. But this is a very difficult task for me. Even when I come up a topic into my mind, it is not easy to create an image for the topic. Sometimes, no image comes up into my mind. So, I have to work hard to create it. But whatever I do or no matter how many hours I tries, sometimes, no image comes up into my mind. Even when something comes up into my mind and it is too vague, I cannot create a collage with it. In any case, I have to work again and again to create a clearer image in my mind.
After I find a clear image, I begin to collect a lot of images over the internet and create a collage with them. But in most cases, in the beginning, it does not match my image in my mind. So, I have to change the location of each image many times or create it from the beginning. Even I repeat it many times, I cannot easily create the one which satisfies me and need a lot of time to complete it. I need much longer time for it than to write something. This is probably because I do not get familiar with it. I will do more practices to get used to it as soon as possible, as I did with English writing.

　1月の最初のころは、少なくとも月に1、2回、コラージュを作ろうと思っていました。でも、いまだにできていません。思っていたより難しかったです。英文を書くよりはるかに難しく感じています。
1月に挑戦しようと決めた時は、英文を書くのと同じように、コラージュもできると思っていました。また、英文を書くのと同じ考え方で、コラージュもできると思っていました。ところが、大違いでした。考え方を変えないとコラージュはできないことが分かりました。
　まず、英文を書くときのように、コラージュのネタを探さねばなりません。でも、ネタだけでは不十分です。同時に、ネタのイメージを頭の中で描く必要があるのです。明確なものである必要はなく、漠然としたものでもよいです。とはいえ、これが厄介です。頭の中にネタができても、ネタのイメージを描くのは簡単ではありません。何のイメージも浮かんでこないこともあります。だから、必死に考えます。でも、何をしようと、何時間かけても、イメージが浮かんでこないこともあります。漠然としたものが浮かんできても、漠然過ぎると、コラージュにできない場合もあります。いずれの場合も、より明瞭なイメージを生み出すために、何度も考えねばなりません。
　イメージが浮かんだら、インターネットでたくさんの画像を集めてコラージュにします。でも、たいていの場合、最初のうちはしっくりきません。頭の中のイメージと合わないのです。そのため、画像の場所を何度も変えたり、最初から作り直したりします。何度繰り返しても、なかなか納得のいくものができません。 文章を書くよりもずっと長い時間が必要です。これはおそらく、まだ慣れていないからだと思っています。英文を書くのと同じように、もっと練習して早く慣れたいです。
