Correct understanding AGEUKE
There are few Japanese who understand AGEUKE correctly.
This article describes the correct use of AGEUKE.
See the picture below.
This is an example of defense with the right hand AGEUKE against the right hand TSUKI.
This defense is extremely dangerous!
The attacker's left hand can attack immediately.
The attacker can also attack the left foot immediately.
As shown in the picture below, in the case of a right-handed attack, defend with the left-handed-AGEUKE. In case of left hand attack, defend with right hand-AGEUKE.
This is a basic concept in understanding Karate.
In this case, the defender's AGEUKE changes to KAKETE, allowing the defender to come around to the attacker's outside.
Using this principle, the attacker's opposite hand and foot lose the power to attack easily.
In this way, it is the basis of karate that you move to the attackers outside, which then becomes the weak point. The attacker cannot easily kick or punch from this position.
In modern sports karate, KAKETE is prohibited, but the essence of karate lies in KAKETE.
Being aware of KAKETE allows you to get closer to the essence of karate.
