First, we agreed to launch intensive exchanges on balanced growth in the domestic and global economy. This will help us press for action on areas of concern, like the potential impact of Chinese industrial overcapacity on manufacturers in America and globally.

Second, we established a new Joint Treasury-PBOC Cooperation and Exchange on Anti-Money Laundering to deepen collaboration on illicit finance. This will enable our countries to share best practices and information on fighting financial crime.

Third, we announced that we will continue a series of financial technical exchanges between the U.S. and China. American and Chinese financial regulators must be able to communicate to prevent financial stresses from turning into crises that hurt our economies.

I also engaged on other priorities, such as national security. I stressed that companies, including those in China, must not provide material support for Russia’s war and that they will face significant consequences if they do.

Vice Premier He and I committed to stay in close touch. The U.S. will also host our Chinese counterparts next week for the fourth set of meetings of the Economic and Financial Working Groups, where these issues will be discussed at length.
